DJ Pon3_comp by Asarav DJ Pon3_comp by Asarav
Well, here she is. She's the first character that I've modeled in about 7 or so years so I'm happy with the over all look of her but I would probably do things a bit different next time. I'd love to make the model more poseable for one and give her more room for expressions. Not bad for a first attempt I think. This is also the first time that I touched Max hair/fur so I could still use some improvement there also. Well, on to her first venue! (Once I finish planing it out that is.)

DJ Pon3 (Vinyl Scratch) modeled in 3ds Max 12.
1723 Polys
Completed in 12 hours (Model/UV/Texture)
I didn't include working on the hair because this is the first time I've used 3DS' Hair/Fur plugin.

Textured in Photoshop CS5.

Edit: Forgot to thank :iconig-64: for the tips on the hair.

It was so long ago, I can't really remember. Sorry :( I think I made 3 lines then wrapped the hair around that.

A few people have requested that but unfortunately she's not modeled for animation or rigged. Plus her hair wouldn't work in engine and would have to be redone. Maybe when I'm done with her environment I'll go back and redo the base model.

If I'm not mistaken, the Gmod uses do not involve getting her hair animated, I remember people only reskin the body and hair and even removing horns and wings, the hair remains untouched.

That's why I hope all 3D pony modelers must reconsider that their models will enter the hall of fame when it's ported to Gmod. ;)

The hair isn't modeled on Vinyl though, it's the Hair/Fur plugin which isn't game engine compatible. You can convert it to geometry which would sky rocket the poly count making it unfeasible for the game engine to handle. It would basically make her hair alone have the poly count of an entire level.I'd have to go back and model in the hair myself, probably using planes and transparencies or just blocking out the shape as most models in gmod seem to have. If anything I could just re-skin a gmod model but at this time I'd much rather concentrate on knocking out an environment for Vinyl.
